MCSAT Meeting Notes – 10.17.24

  • Review action items from last meeting
    • Dog poop bags – we will be using the biodegradable bags
      • Allison noted that the winter bags were not biodegradable, but the ones we use in the summer are biodegradable, we’ll be ordering them soon
    • Change text to Meadows & Cooper Sustainability Action Team
      • Add sustainability logo
    • Team bio’s
  • Team bios update
    •  Need bios from other team members
  • MCSAT nomination process for Stoke vehicle- Greg
    • Nominations come from Directors around the resort. Exec approved the idea, Heidi won the first sustainability award, Safety will be included.
    • MCSAT can nominate folks by emailing Greg
  • Project of the month ideas/suggestions
    • Sept surplus supplies went well
    • October Project Ideas?
      • Jesse: Reusable notebooks for MLC supervisors and notebooks
        • Overarching theme of reusable
      • Kenzie: Cleaning and recycling nametags
        • Shoutout to Max for doing good at this (Barb)
        • Raffle prize for who cleans the most?
      • Barb: Eliminating single use items (cutlery etc.)
        • Focused towards employees, but could be beneficial for guest facing as well.
        • Engage the whole team in our initiatives (ask for their ideas)
        • Food + Bev is still signing receipts at Meadows, need to get the handheld POS systems
        • Reducing plastic liners in garbage and recycling bins
          • Ask yourself do your garbage bins need to be lined?
      • Claire: encouraging carpooling
        • Try and get 2 per car, track # of cars each day?
          • Greg looking into an app, maybe Get There OR?
        • Staying up on your wellness, conserving your physical resources (your body)
          • Reduce the risk of injury
      • Jezrai
        • Has a surplus of shipping items, paper, peanuts etc
        • If anyone has interest in old tires, they have tires at the vehicle shop
          • Tires could go out in the newsletter.
      • Daniel
        • Quantifying our carbon offset, seeking financial reward,
          • Emphasis in leadership summit
      • Heidi
        • E-cycle, cleaning nametags, reopening and cleaning out clutter, redistribution of resources and items
          • Cleaning up your spaces, ‘spring’ into the season cleaning

 

  • Leadership summit presentation outline review (co-presenters?)
    • Heidi presented the outline for leadership summit
      • Kenzie can provide numbers on I9s printed in the past and how much we’ll save by not printing + no paper checks
      • Jezrai/Jesse will talk about the successes with bird dots
      • Hannah asked about stats or photos from the cleanup
        • 600lbs of trash
        • What were the most common items?
          • Snowcat parts, steel, lots of cans and bottles
  • Check in with sustainability team members
    • Heidi: It’s an honor to lead and be a part of the team, thank you to Greg for supporting our efforts – it’s what makes our company a leader in our industry. We’re doing a lot, but we can always do more. Thanks for helping us do more.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • IT’s e-waste collection event
      • Next Friday (following leadership summit)
