MCSAT Meeting Minutes  September 19th, 2024

 

Attendance:

Agenda update / review items from last month:

  • Review action items from last meeting
    • Dog Poop Bags – Allison & Jezrai not present, we started using a biodegradable bag over the summer. Looking forward to having these bags available year round
    • Recycle Right – Jezrai + Heidi to update Recycle Right – Kenzie to upload to the team site.
    • Minor Season Pass Agreements – Unable to make paperless at this time.
    • Pins + Nametags – Kenzie updated, need to touch base with Ryan to get a proof for a pin. Kenzie will follow up with Cawley Co. about getting nametag add ons to MCSAT team
    • Greg got approval to have a Stoke-mobile for Sustainability
  • September Supplies Clean Out – Heidi will be taking donations when she gets back to onsite work
  • Kenzie to look into a bottle we could sell instead of bottled water.
  • Team name (how/if to incorporate Cooper Spur in the MSAT name)
    • Barb shared that it would be nice to include Cooper in the team name.
    • We’ve decided to move forward with MCSAT as our team name
  • ‘Bird dots’ update (Jesse Eaton, Jezrai Hower)
    • Jesse hasn’t found any dead birds where he’s placed bird dots since he’s put them up.
    • He’s concerned they won’t last the winter.
    • Window cleanings? Jesse will need to reassess potentially for next summer.
  • Sustainability promotion piece review
  • Ask facilities to provide data on LED night lights
  • Looking to add ‘carpool’ promotion & encouraging people to re-use their pass media and trail maps.

Promoting the percentage of food & bev gets composted and what percentage of their items are biodegradable

  • Leadership Summit topics
    • Heidi asked the group to share what they think would be important to share at Leadership Summit
    • IT successes – Expanding the recycling of electronics + promoting this program.
    • Kenzie – Paper-free I9s, encourage going paperless in more places
    • Jesse – share bird dots success, MLC going paperless in many areas as well.
      • Discussed our Sustainability focus being that we share our successes, educate the team on some of our recycling efforts + processes to date and request new ideas from our leaders.
    • Barb – Discussed composting wins, no bottled water outside of their vending machines @ Cooper, boxed water only. Exploring recycling options to avoid everything going to Hood River Garbage.
      • Wants to see compost at least of coffee grounds soon. Her goal is to bring compost to Meadows at the same scale.
      • Recognized that her depts are the biggest producers of trash. She wants to improve our efforts in making smart decisions.
      • Spoke to wanting to include information on what’s Biodegradable, Recyclable and Compostable.
      • Jesenia agrees we should make it educational and celebratory of our successes. Connecting team members to where they can find additional resources to learn more and reference the information we present.
      • Introducing the MCSAT team site resources – introducing the MCSAT team.
      • Training our guests and teams to take care of their trash and recyclables properly.
  • Recycle Right review and quiz, and update on enhancement
    • Determining the difference between Tetra Packs and Gable Tops (including graphics? On Team Site)
    • Should we start a bamboo recycling program?
      • Kenzie to reach out to Kelci + Wes
    • Heidi continued to review, MCSAT team got down to reviewing Ink/Toner Cartridges.
