Snow Dances Needed
Though the sunshine and blue skies have been pleasant, we are due for some winter storms as we round out Juneuary. I know it’s an old cliche, but someone told me long ago there’s a calm before the storm, I know it’s been coming for some time. Do your snow dances, get your prefered method of downhill travel waxed, and make sure your ready to enjoy the fresh snow that is surely coming our way!
Enjoy this picture of the snow stake pulled from the future.
****I wrote this before this storm, but continued snow dances won’t hurt!

MHMR - Voted A top ski resort for Snow Shoeing by POWDR Magazine
Congrats to the Nordic team on being voted one of the top six (!!!) ski resorts for snowshoeing by Powdr Magazine!
Hannah, Debbie and the rest of the nordic team would love to have you join them on a guided snowshoe tour this season (free for all team members and dependents).
“Nestled along the flanks of Mt. Hood, Oregon, Meadows offers a slew of experiences for those looking to venture into the mountains without riding skis or a snowboard. For one, you can rent a pair of snowshoes in the Sahale Lodge or the Nordic Center in the Hood River Meadows lot. Once you’re kitted out, venture into a network of snowshoe trails that starts at Meadows’ main base area.
If you’re looking for a guided tour, Meadows has that base covered, too. The Illumination Snowshoe Tour takes place at night, offering a unique take on the coniferous forests surrounding Mt. Hood. The Vista Snowshoe Tour adds a scenic chairlift ride to the deal. First, attendees ride up the Vista Express Chairlift. Then, with a guide, they tromp downhill to the base area, where dinner is served at the Raptor’s Roost.”

Safety Corner: Culture of Courage
We hear a lot about building a Culture of Safety.
Simply put, Safety Culture is alive and well when team members can agree that: “Our Actions Prove Our Fearless Care for One Another.”
We’re friends here. We care about each other. We deliberately PROVE our care for each other by DOING things like reporting hazards, sharing safety or ergonomic tips, and setting a good example. We demonstrate our COURAGE when we care enough to act despite resistance from without or within. What if the PPE in your work area isn’t in great shape and people have stopped using it? What if you see a coworker doing something dangerous and against policy? We can EASILY tell ourselves that a situation is someone else’s responsibility…Courage feels like the opposite of easy, and many of us naturally avoid conflict. But Love is Brave. Be brave enough to show your care through action. Report hazards, share tips, speak up! STAY SAFE!!

A Message on Sustainability - (A)Way to-go
If you want to support our sustainability initiatives and save resources, consider not getting your food served in a disposable single use box which costs us almost a dollar each.
Instead, ask for your food ‘for here’ and then put it in your own reusable container. Then leave the plate in the bus station and you have saved money and materials.
Please do not ask the food servers to fill your containers as they are not allowed to accept them behind the counter due to food safety regulations
If you must take food offsite from our food service areas, consider using durable cutlery when you get where you are going, instead of taking single use disposable cutlery.
Brought to you by the Meadows/Cooper Sustainability Action Team (MCSAT)
