A Huge Thank You From Special Olympics Hood River
A huge thank you came through this week from the Special Olympics of Oregon – Hood River Chapter, who wrapped up their final day of the season at Mt. Hood Meadows with an athlete award ceremony.
Their team shared a framed message of appreciation for everyone who helped make their season such a success. They wanted to recognize the incredible support from the rental team and Meadows staff who helped them get set up each day.
According to their head coach, this year was the smoothest season yet across the board.
They also expressed how much they value the consistently welcoming experience they receive at Meadows. It’s a big reason they continue returning year after year.
A special shoutout goes to MHM employees Jackson Reidy and Maritza Medina, who volunteered their time and skills to support the athletes throughout the season.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this season memorable for these inspiring athletes!
Find the Frame Challenge
Start your search riding up on a quasar,
Through winters glow where cold winds spar.
When banked turns carve from right to left,
Find the lip where winds have cleft.
The twins await just out of sight,
Not quite steep, but not quite slight.
Below the garden of rock lined trail,
Snap the frame to tell your tale.

LLR Vouchers are Loaded, Live and Ready for Use!
As part of our Employee Appreciation program, we’re excited to once again offer Learn-to-Ski / Ride / Nordic vouchers this spring. These vouchers are available to active team members and can be used to bring a friend or guest to learn Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, or Nordic Skiing.
Each employee voucher can be used two times and includes for your guest:
- A two-hour beginner lesson
- Equipment rentals
- A Beginner Progression lift ticket (Ballroom Carpet, Buttercup, Easy Rider, Daisy, and Vista)
These vouchers are intended to help introduce new people to snow sports, so all components of the package must be used by the same guest. If your guest only needs part of the package (for example, lesson only or rentals only), the unused portions will simply be inactivated.
How to Redeem
- Log in to your account at www.skihood.com.
- Go to Redeem Voucher to find your voucher number.
- Share the voucher number with your guest.
- Your guest should book their lesson online at skihood.com/voucher.
When redeeming online, guests will see options to select:
Rentals (with the option to add a Beginner Progression lift ticket)
Lesson (with the option to add rentals and/or a lift ticket)
Beginner Progression lift ticket
If your guest does not want a lesson but would still like to use the rentals and/or lift ticket, they can redeem the voucher in person at the Sahale sales desk.
If you have trouble locating your voucher number, you can also request it by emailing mhminfo@skihood.com.
We hope you’ll use these vouchers to share the joy of Alpine, Snowboard, and Nordic skiing with someone new!
Guest Survey Comments

“You are truly doing the best you can in the conditions given, this year. I appreciate every staff member that has shown up to make the trails rideable.”
“Great day on the slopes! Kids had a wonderful time at ski camp. Instructors Liz and Portia were amazing – kind role models that I love teaching my girls! Parents hit the runs hard and smiled all day….Thank you! “

“Wanted to go before season ends. Took gorge cat bus that was awesome too! I cradled on Apollo and Paul from ski patrol gave me a ride in sled to clinic. So very grateful to him and medical staff. I can’t wait to go back and will always be a loyal customer”
“I almost didn’t come up because of the weather forecast, but the rain held off and I had a great day. Very low crowds and the snow was very carvable. Meadows has done a great job making the most of a challenging snow year.”
Safety Corner
Hey, Shreddies!
The theme remains “Be alert to changing conditions.”
This week’s cautions are around post-holing and slow spots – go carefully when stepping and expect the unexpected when riding! That said, it’s likely to freeze again. We tend to see an increase in slips and falls in Spring, due to the gnarly freeze/thaw effect that can leave black ice everywhere. We also see more injuries as we shift to new roles or lose presence while thinking about the next job or travel break. Be Here Now!
Here’s a recap of Safety by the Numbers so far this year. This matches our Fiscal Year, so these records start July 1, 2025.
Via the JIRA RISK Portal, we’ve received:
112 Reports of all types: Injury, Close Call, Hazard, Vehicle…
96 Injury Reports
10 Close Call/Hazard Reports
3 Off-Duty Injury Reports
3 Vehicle Reports
This represents great participation by all departments and every one of you. We really appreciate it – the more info we get, the more effectively we can work to prevent injuries! What’s more – continued focus, especially slope safety awareness, has led to a measurable reduction in injury severity from last year! Great job! Let’s ride that trend all the way – Ski Safe to Save your Summer!
