Team Sustainability Check-In
Anna Holgate:
– Building participates in can recycling; Mt. Hood Ski Patrol collects for fundraising.
– Recognized Annie for reusable sandwich boards.
Madalyne Staab:
– Hometown in Colorado started food scrap pickup.
– Noted trailhead litter pickup by hikers.
Matthew Grimsley:
– Practices near-zero waste while boondocking.
– Recycles aluminum cans during travel.
– At work, focuses on sourcing products with less packaging and educating new sous chefs.
Kenzie Schlangen:
– Excel-based performance reviews saved paper.
– Looking into e-signatures.
– Reuses plastic utensils and saves glass containers.
Daniel Valois:
– Recycles regularly.
– Lift Maintenance team replacing ballasts with LEDs.
– Manages e-waste sorting and disposal with Cameron.

Mission Statement (Hip Version – Accepted)
We’re all about keeping the mountains epic for today and tomorrow. Our mission is to weave sustainability into everything we do—from how we run the resort to how we treat the planet. We’re here to protect the wild places we love, shrink our footprint, and get everyone—guests, team, and community—pumped about being part of the solution.
Vision Statement (Professional Version – Accepted with Edits)
To create a mountain experience where sustainability is impactful and meaningful, part of every adventure. Inspiring our guests and team to recreate, learn, and lead with purpose. Together, we aim to demonstrate how environmental responsibility can protect our Mountain Home for generations to come.
Goals (Drafted)
Education:
– Implement engaging training (e.g., Lumi course) on recycling and sustainability practices.
– Improve team understanding of ‘Recycle Right’ principles.
Encouragement:
– Implement creative ways to encourage sustainable behavior at work and home.
Reporting (In Progress):
– Publish an annual sustainability report with measurable progress and future goals.
– Explore Sustainable Slopes badge program and Climate Challenge metrics.
Habitat & Trail Stewardship:
– Protect and restore native habitats.
– Promote responsible trail use.
– Partner with conservation groups (e.g., Hood River Watershed Group).
Recognition
