Summer is in full swing at Mt. Hood Meadows. Between busy weekends, warm days, and a little extra haze in the air, our mountain team has been hard at work keeping operations running and preparing for everything still to come.
While ski season may feel far away, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes; from projects and events to the countless day-to-day efforts that keep this place moving. Thank you to everyone for bringing positivity, flexibility, and teamwork to another memorable summer on the mountain.

Safety Corner
We’re between the Solstice and Dog Days – Sirius hides at night, but the sun’s hard to miss during the day! With the year’s strongest solar rays, highest air temperatures, and, as often as not, wildfire smoke in the mix, now’s a great time to take a self-care pause. If you work outdoors, please take regular cool-down breaks, stay hydrated, and help your friends do the same! Electrolyte packets are handier than ever under these high sweat/evaporation rates; we still have a few in HR if you need some.
Sunscreen and sunhats never hurt.
Find The Frame Challenge
The challenge is back! Hidden somewhere within the Mt. Hood Meadows permit area is the scene pictured below. Your mission: use the photo and accompanying clue to track down the exact location, recreate the shot, and send us your best attempt for a chance to win this edition’s prize.
Whether you’re a seasoned explorer or simply looking for an excuse to get outside, Find the Frame is a chance to discover new corners of the mountain and see the landscape through a different lens. Lace up your boots, study the clues, and happy hunting!

Summer Stoke Winners (So Far)
Join me in recognizing Ben Ticknor with the Stoke Award for May!
Ben serves as a Lead in Mt. Hood Meadows’ Snow Safety program, bringing technical expertise to avalanche forecasting, planning, mitigation, and terrain management. His work begins long before our guests ever set foot on the mountain — analyzing snowpack data, interpreting weather patterns, and building daily plans that guide critical decisions about opening terrain. In addition to his snow safety work Ben plays a huge role in our patrol operations, he is a calm presence during stressful situations.
Opening Heather Canyon is a complex process made even more difficult during a low snow season. It requires thorough snowpack assessment, coordinated avalanche mitigation work across a wide variety of aspects and elevations, and complex hazard marking. Ben was central to making that happen safely and successfully this season. Check out the Inside Meadows video produced this season.
We are so excited to recognize Myles Caputo (HR Recruiter) for his efforts improving many of our company wide HR programs. Myles’s enthusiasm, ambition, positive attitude, and determination to deliver exceptional efforts such as recruiting STAR team members, co-managing our uniform area, delivering HR cheers, coordinating awesome summer job fairs, and managing team housing. These were the primary factors for his “STOKE” recognition.
