Though I do not work Full Time anymore, this comment is for the current full-timers. IMO, Full Time is from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. The Full Timers that work from the beginning to the end of operations deserve a bonus. Going into next season there might be better retention of full time employees if they knew in advance that they would get a bonus. These guys deserve it. This goes for all departments. The full timers that take off before the end of the year just make things harder for those that remain.
Thank you for the suggestion. I am already looking into how we can further incentivise both our part time and full time instructor team members. Some ideas on the table are: 1) pay raise at a teaching hour threshold for both part time and full time instructors so that high producing instructors are compensated for their efforts; 2) Full Time instructor bonus for every hour above a certain threshold is awarded to those who stay on staff through mid-April. 3) Company-wide overtime pay at less than 56 hours per week. These are suggestions/proposals at the moment and details will be shared in the Fall of 2019.
At the same time, our lesson volume tends to drop significantly in April, so having a few full time instructors finish early allows the rest of the team the opportunity teach and make it viable for them to stay on.

Podcast Hidden Brain, episode Bullshit Jobs. Have listen, let it really sink in and then take a long, hard look at your management structure. All the money you are WASTING on full time benefitted positions held by people who are completely incompetent could be reallocated on your base level employees WHO ACTUALLY DO THE WORK OF RUNNING YOUR MEDIOCRE RESORT. Pay us, don't thank us. Your season pass is not nearly as attractive to potential employees as the myriad of other world class resorts nearby ( who offer employee housing). Do better Meadows.
You seem to be very frustrated and I'm sorry for that. If you want to discuss the specific problems you are experiencing and how we might improve please feel free to reach out to me.

first year in new job. looking forward to taking a breather, and having the opportunity to do it all over again, but better, next season.
Wow I can't believe the amount of whiners here!
Need their mommies to come to work with them!
Schuss took items off the menu but apparently still serve them if you ask and they happen to have it. But that wasn’t communicated very well and a lot of us ended up eating things that honestly kind of suck.
Don’t take away our good meals because you’ve over ordered less desirable items.
I know we’re sustainable and all but it seems like a larger waste to be stocking food people are less likely to buy while removing items from the menu that we still have ingredients in stock for.
And please keep the Matterhorn next year.
Better communication
What form would you like to see the better communication take? Is there any specific areas that need to improve communication?

I am part time. I make the 18 day commitment. I also help with the training of new hires and skier improvement. I see the continual changes that are purposeful and generally accomplish the intended goals. I am so impressed and excited to work at MHM that I am reticent to suggest a selfish want. I want to improve my teaching and skiing. MHM does not offer me education to do either. We have a significant number of PSIA-NW divisional staff. Can we access to that staff at the Cert 3 and beyond level?
If you are part of the MHM Training Staff, we do offer professional development and beyond Level III training by allowing our training staff to participate in the PSIA-NW Tech Series program where we actually pay the season Tech Series fee for our trainers; MHM has a very generous scholarship program for MHM instructors to attend PSIA-NW events like Divisional Academy, Winter Blast and Spring Symposium; many of our instructors attended their Children's Specialist and Freestyle Specialist this season. In the past we used to offer the Friday Night Lights clinic for post Level III development - maybe we can get that happening again if there is interest.
