Mt. Hood Meadows / Cooper Spur Team Check-in Survey

Team Member Comment

I was eating lunch in the parking lot the other day and an employee fired up Meadows truck #102. I was about thirty feet away but the exhaust from the vehicle came in my direction and was unbearable. There is no way that vehicle can pass an emissions test. If we want people to think we care about the environment, we should look at things like this. Holding on to a piece of equipment that no longer meets our rising standard is not an example of "sustainability," it is downright irresponsible, greedy, and cheap.

Ask folks if they are Nordic bound and allocate more parking for Nordic area. On busy days customers are sent away. WE ARE OPEN AND HAVE LOTS OF SPACE.

Thanks for your caring replies to our co workers! I appreciate the difference you make.

Management Response

Thanks for saying that. I'm hopeful this survey helps us improve and makes everyone feel like they have a voice in our company.

Couple comments from the last few weeks...

1. One of the hand dryers in the men's restroom right outside the ski rental area has seriously worked property for at least TWO years!! It cracks me up but irritates me as well. I listen to comments from our customers almost every week about that hand dryer (the heating unit last year, this year it's the blower). This is not a 'Best in the West' approach, in my opinion, just poor maintenance of the facility. Might be a little issue, but it's an issue.

2. I spent two weeks dragging my kids and sometimes adults up the hill that was the entrance to the Ballroom Carpet. Really? Teaching first-time skier is challenging enough without having to do that every single run! Yea, they should be able to master that skill, but it won't take you two minutes when you watch that mess to understand that the entrance to the carpet needs to be pretty level with the end of that run. Raising the entrance creates huge challenges!

3. When our customers (and me) are driving up from the Hood River side and they drive by the HRM entrance only to be turned around and sent back there is endless irritating! Please put a sign up down there so people coming from the Hood River side know that HRM is their only option and they don't need to make a big loop just to go back there anyway. Seems logical right?

There are lots of good things happening as well, but this is low hanging fruit for our guests! Thanks for considering these frustrations.

Management Response

1. What happens with the hand dryers is people put their gloves over them to dry out their gloves which overheats the hand dryers and requires them to be repaired. We may need to look at a different type of hand dryer to avoid this issue.

2. I will take a look at the grading on the ballroom carpet.

3. Thanks for this feedback on HRM, I am not sure the protocol for signage but I will find out.

Please keep this anonymous. I fear that it will lose some of its draw otherwise. You may have to sift through more junk to find the gems but I (and so many I have talked to) really appreciate that I don't need to put my name on this unless I want to. I usually do anyway though 🙂

Management Response

It is anonymous still - however my replies may specifically speak to the individual anonymously once that person has shared additional information related to their comment offline.

I’ve noticed lately that access control has been much quicker to respond about pass issues and has become more efficient about communicating which guests they are attempting to speak to us about. Or simply solving issues remotely without the need to call it in at all.
Thanks access. Keep up the good work.

Management Response

Access Control and I meet up on a weekly basis and we are constantly trying to figure out ways to make this new system work as well as it possibly can. I am stoked to hear that you think it has been improving but if you ever identify any specific issues happening, please let me know and we will do our best to continue to improve!
