If people want to whine about people who like to work together then I'm jealous of couples who get to work together or even roommates who work together, I've been returning for several years and this is ridiculous now. I will not be coming back again next year, that is if I even make it through the whole season which is not likely. Also this is not just me, I've talked with other long term returnees.
I think our company and it's leadership is something to be very proud of. I think this survey and how much time is invested into making positive change and providing thoughtful responses is commendable. I have only felt supported and impressed by the excellent leadership, including that of the VP of Resort Operations and the COO. I do however agree with the comment made about how the very negative (and unfair) comment about them was addressed. While I think the comment lacked substance or truth, and the response from Jeremy was spot on, I don't think posting that comment on front page and commenting back was appropriate. I was impressed that you chose to post it in the first place, it was just how the response was handled that I didn't agree with. The response shoud have come from HR. Many leaders have negative comments, and they don't highlight the comment on the front page, and make their defensive case. Hopfully this also hightlights the fact that these are just comments, they can be written on bad days, and not as much weight should be put into them, either negative or positive, it's more about looking at comment trends.
Thank you for the thoughtful response and positive comments. As a director team, we committed to several actions this year aimed at improving the work environment. One of the many actions was utilizing this survey to be more interactive, transparent and faster in responding to suggestions/concerns. Jeremy was a primary driver of this which is why he also is invested in crafting so many responses. As his peer I can bear witness to his desire to improve the workplace and his deep commitment to Mt Hood Meadows. I believe we will continue to learn and improve in our ability to use this tool, aided by the critical AND helpful comments such as yours.

You guys should do morning meetings outside on beautiful days like yesterday, It'll improve morale and should be much better to see a mountain with an alpond glow than cramped in a concrete box
We have done this in the past and I love it! The one caveat is that when we do this, we lose the benefit of having a space to do the morning training. I feel that on beautiful days, we could come to a comprise and do our training first and then do the rest of the meeting outside. We will give a shot on the next beautiful day.

Pay Ski and Snowboard instructors at least one hour of their teaching rate when guests cancel or no show for private lessons. Meadows receives $25 or at least has the option to charge the guest this happens, you're highly trained and well-prepared on time instructors are left receiving nothing, and often are out of sync with the timing to be able to pick up a group lesson or any other teaching opportunity. This is not right. Please correct this immediately. I am speaking for a significant and growing group of instructors, as this is my experience also. At orientation and continuing forward throughout the season to this point, we were all pleasantly surprised and optimistic that the number one priority for management was going to be us, the employees who make this all happen. When these private board cancellations occur and we are not compensated, we certainly don't feel at all like we are being included in the Mountain Family. And it's not going unnoticed by other employees, so please don't take this lightly or ignore it!
Thank you for bringing this up. We will consider all the options. I was just speaking with another Ski School Operator who charges guests $50 for those who do NOT notify us they are not coming or will be late. We don't want to penalize guests for missing a lesson for an unforeseen event, however having some importance associated with letting us know might reduce these situations. Then we can reschedule private lesson instructors sooner and move guests who are here and ready to go into an earlier time slot, so you can work and open up slots later in the day to book you too. - Tyler Barnes, Learning Center Operations Manager
I’d like to see hand sanitizers in the bathrooms for those who hate hand dryers.
The 2nd Hood River bus is way to packed to just do one bus. Often times all the seats are full(2 people a seat and then their gear) and then people have to stand/sit in the aisles. It doesn’t make for a very good start to your morning. On a more positive note shoutout to gearcheck and lift opts for an amazing job so far and rentals was killing it.Higher Grounds has some great sandwiches and pretty short lines. A few times I’ve gotten hot chocolate from them and it’s been pretty watered down, but otherwise this season has been pretty good. Hope to keep seeing improvements throughout the season. Stay safe out there and keep shredding.
