Holiday Meal Discount!

Helpful Tips From Culinary Services

Hi all…we are excited to welcome you back to the lodge this year! We are very happy to have you as our guests!

We wanted to pass along some helpful tips when you come to any of the food areas:

  • Your 70% discount (using your pass) is available at all times in all the QSR areas when they are operating: Sahale Grill, Schuss Express, Fresh Tracks Grab & Go, Wildflowers Café, Higher Grounds Café, Mazot, and Renaissance Café.
  • If you come before 11:30 am or after about 1 pm, you will always be more successful getting your food and beverages quickly…especially in Sahale. If you are in a hurry, we recommend not coming during the peak lunch rush…unfortunately, team members cannot cut the line in front of guests.
  • Fresh Tracks:
    • A great option even at peak lunchtime to get something quick and less expensive.
    • This year we are doing a pre-made hot Pork Carnitas Burrito! It will be a special price of $10 for team members in uniform…with your discount, that would be just $3! This is only good while supplies last as a limited number are made each day.
    • We also will be selling sandwiches that are out of date by one day to employees for only $8 (just $2.50 with your discount). Please ask the cashier. This is only available on the outdated sandwiches…which are still of good quality, but one day past the day we pull from the areas.
    • Fresh Tracks will operate most peak days.
  • On peak days, there are always grab-and-go options available at Wild Flowers, Higher Grounds, and Fresh Tracks that you could purchase in the mornings when the lodge is not busy.
  • Please follow all signage and direction from the F&B team as we ask all of our guests to. Please remember that the culinary team members are your teammates too and they are doing their job!  Please don’t ask for special “deals”, free food, etc.
  • When purchasing in Sahale, please ask for your food “to go” and take the plastic cutlery if you are not planning on sitting in the Sahale seating area.
  • If you do take plates and trays away, please bring them back as soon as you can.
  • Please always wear your mask at all times until you are seated and actively eating or drinking.

Night Ops is Here!

Lost & Found

It’s snowing fresh powder, the stoke level is high, and then you have the most epic day working at Mt. Hood Meadows doing what you love. While you’re out walking on the back deck you realize – gasp, someone lost their hat! Have no worries – we have a Lost and Found!

Our Lost and Found is located at the Concierge Desk on the main level of our South Lodge. Please bring any lost items to the Lost and Found and provide the location and time you found the item. Items are kept for a maximum time of two weeks. After two full weeks, items are donated to charity due to limited capacity and high volume of lost items. If someone loses an item, they can come by the Concierge Desk and give a description of the item. If their item has not been turned in yet, please have them fill out a “Lost Item Report.” The “Lost Item Report” can be found on our main website by going to www.skihood.com, select ‘About Us’ and then select ‘Lost and Found.’
Here is also a direct link to the “Lost Item Report” [https://www.skihood.com/about-us/lost-and-found]

Pro tip, we highly encourage labeling gear with names and any contact information so we can easily contact the owner of the item as soon as the item is brought to Lost and Found.

The Art of Listening

listen

They may not have noticed, but chances are you’ve done it to your spouse, your boss, your friends, or your kids. The offense? Not listening. Call it tuning out, not paying attention, or becoming distracted, but the bottom line is you were not listening.

Listening involves more than just hearing another person speak. It also requires understanding, communication, and acknowledging the feelings of the speaker.

Here are some tips that may help you become a better listener.

  1. Make yourself aware that you need to be listening. If you tell yourself to listen, chances are you will not be as easily distracted. Along the same lines, do not let yourself start doodling during a meeting or glancing at the TV while your mate is describing his or her day.
  2. Don’t interrupt. Not only is it rude, but it demonstrates a lack of respect for the person speaking.
  3. Do not let your own thoughts cloud what others are saying. People generally think quicker than they speak. If you are spending your time thinking of ways to respond to the speaker, you are not giving your full attention.
  4. Unless you are asked for advice, keep your opinions to yourself. Whether you agree with the speaker’s
statements or not, many times people are just looking for a sounding board.
  5. Make an effort to maintain an active part in listening. Repeat back what the speaker is telling you. For example, “So what you are saying is….” Not only will this show the speaker that you are listening, but it will also help clarify what is being said.
  6. On the same note, if you do not understand what you are being told, ask for clarification. It is perfectly okay to ask “What do you mean by that?” or “Can you explain that further?”
  7. Pay attention to non-verbal clues, both yours and the speakers. If you notice that you are fidgeting or rolling your eyes, the speaker will as well. If the speaker cannot look you in the eye or is fidgeting, he or she may be feeling uncomfortable talking to you or is afraid to tell you something. Try to make the speaker feel more at ease.
  8. If you really are just too busy to have a conversation, say so. Let the speaker know that you are unable to give him or her your full attention now but would love to hear the story later in the day.
