Most workers have been short changed breaks and meal times most of the season. It is illegal for workers not to recieve overtime after 40 hours worked. Pay is not a liveable wage, espically with no benefits. Most employees receieve benefits through state programs, spouses, parents, or another employer. Meadows is underpaying workers for the amount of revenue earned. Meadows needs to have all starting wages be $15 per hour.
I can't believe how fast my first season flew by. I'm so grateful to be part of the MHM Team! I love my job and look forward to being back again next season (and perhaps over the summer, too).
Very cool, thanks for the comment.

Is there any chance a new pass system might be added for part time employees? I go to school in HR and worked from December to March, including all peak days. A big perk for me and a lot of other students I know is the season pass included with the job. However I haven't been able to ski much because of work and school. Is there any way that part-timers might be able to work the peak days such as Christmas break plus January weekends and then receive a discount off their season pass? Cheers everyone
Thanks for your comment on part time possibilities for next year. We have looked at returning employees for holiday help this past season but as you know for that shorter period of commitment we did not allow them to keep their passes after they finished up from the Christmas rush. I know it can be hard juggling work and school commitments for sure. We will look at options for next year to see if we can offer a pass buyout for some sort of lesser commitment than regular part time which is two shifts a week. Thanks for the suggestion and have a great summer!

Clocks, clocks, clocks (top and bottom of all lifts). It's a simple thing, very little cost. Please, it will be super helpful!! Thanks.
The lack of strategic planning, the lack of engagement on poor TOS Results, and the unrealistic budget guidance is discouraging. I love working with the core groups of FT employees that I find around MHM in the late season. I wish we could offer more sustainable compensation for these core employees. I realize that will likely require more creativity for shoulder season and summer revenue additions. I'm not sure when to work on such long term projects...hopefully some PT hours this summer will allow for this long term planning.
I'd like to see Summer Ops employment opportunities prioritized to support year-round secure employment for our most important skilled and veteran winter employees instead of looking for cheapest labor source. FYI - I'm unsure of what labor priorities are in place.
Creating more year round opportunities for team members is certainly one of our goals with expanding to summer operations. If you'd like to discuss some of your concerns with strategic planning, budgets, etc please reach out to your Director, VP or myself.

Please please please for the love of everything do not take the Matterhorn wrap off the schuss menu for next year.
It is literally the only thing I’m willing to eat they’re besides the Sasquatch but half the time that’s so burnt it’s not worth eating.
The Matterhorn is your best item, don’t ditch it, your menu sucks.
I am glad you liked that menu item…
Unfortunately as we approach the end of the season and are only open a couple days a week, we need to streamline our menu.
This is so we can focus sales into less items which reduces prep and significantly reduces waste.
That item will return to the menu next season for sure!

It's spring. Most people are "over it". The attitude seems to be company wide. Asking people to complete their jobs is met with resistance or defiance. They don't think they get paid enough to work hard at this point in the season. When I look around at other departments they seem to running the same way. I am not "over it". I think spring time here is great. Other peoples attitude and desire for the season to be over are a drain on morale. I don't have a solution for this annual problem. I think it's something we should look at as a team.
Thank you for sharing, I love the spring time as well. It's unfortunate to hear about the burn out but we should brain storm ideas to keep the team more engaged through the end of the season. Perhaps the team members who feel this way would have some good input.

Will there be a chance for a deeply discounted tune at the HPC this spring for those abused instructor skis?
Have there been any thoughts in ways Meadows can accommodate Backcountry skiers / snowboarders better? The sport is growing tremendously as a lot of people are sick of the resort experience especially on crowded weekends.
one way lift tickets
Cat access (above Cascade / clark)
Guided tours out of MLC or Nordic (Mitchell Creek, HRM base area / fight trees, Clark /newton)
Upgrade to Heather chair / better grooming of run-out area
I agree that there is growing interest in backcountry skiing & riding. We have discussed some ideas and we appreciate you sharing your suggestions on how to create more offerings in this area.
