If theres one thing I cant stand is how cordial people are when it comes to belittling a person. They showed up they re here to work, dont make them hate whom they work for anf question why your losing workers. Coming from the largest ski resort in the world at this time to here. We need to stop hurting people by belittling them. It's not just maitenance, but we re definitely a problem... Its sad when you see workers in tears, and go to he and are told to get a thicker skin. It's fucking sad and pisses me off. Im not stuck here, but i want to help. How do you help a corporation that seemingly doesn t want it sending out team surveys?? Fix the issue, we shouldn't be bellitling our staff and thats exactly what I'm seeing on the hill. It's truly sickening...
Lately the mood feels depressed in the MLC.
It was a great season. I look forward to Sahale lodge where ski school will be located offf the South lodge. I would love to see the Tuesday bus returned for our seniors or those who don't drive to come and take lessons.
Paul Sunderland shared with me some ideas on how to increase participation on our mid-week bus programs. I am hopeful some of his ideas we can implement and grow participation. Thanks for the suggestion.

Overall the team surveys have been a great resource to receive feedback. I believe it also goes a long way that we have the leadership team respond to the comments from our team members. One thing that may be valuable moving forward is to have that response signed from "management" or "leadership team" rather than the individual person responding. I think by having a specific name attached to the comment puts unfair stress on that leader and is reflecting more of an individual decision rather than a collective team decision. For certain departments that comment often, it is as if the manager/director is the bearer of bad news all the time even though it was not one individual making that decision. By changing the name it shows more of a united front and has the appearance (real or perceived) that multiple leaders saw that comment and will take it under consideration.
Thank you for the observation and the suggestion. Our practice has been to have the V.P. or director most directly involved with the subject respond as they would be either the authority (have the correct information) or be most familiar with the situation. Posting the responder's name also provides a contact for further follow up for those reading the response. Since we have a few departments with large numbers to team members, it may appear that some of our leadership team may be disproportionately "burdened" when it comes to addressing these topics. One of our goals with this forum is to be a place where this information can be shared and we can all learn from it.
