Getting Ready to Open - No more Uphill Travel & Parking Lot Safety

With new snow arriving we are actively working on snow piling and hauling in the parking lot.  Slow down and give the snow harvesting equipment extra space and watch for snow berms.  There should be a driving lane maintained from the gate to the parking area up by the lodge.

Active preparation for ski area operations begins Sunday morning.
If we get the forecasted snow, we’re anticipating opening on Tuesday.

Because of harvesting, hauling, track packing, and set up activities; as of 9 pm 11/26, we will no longer allow up-hill travel within the resort with the exception of the designated routes listed below.  Please communicate the following to those who enquire:

Backcountry access to the wilderness areas adjacent to the resort via two designated travel routes along our North and South Boundaries (see https://www.skihood.com/the-mountain/safety/avalanche-reduction-operations and https://www.skihood.com/the-mountain/safety/terrain-management for details)

Designated hiking routes are:

Heather Canyon Runout – Proceed uphill from the Hood River Meadows Parking Lot to the first sign just below Gods Wall.  If the sign is CLOSED exit the Mt. Hood Meadows Permit Area towards the Newton Drainage.  Please do not travel further uphill on the Heather Canyon Runout.

If the sign is OPEN continue traveling uphill on the Heather Canyon Runout to the CLOSED sign directly adjacent to the bottom of the Heather Canyon Chairlift.  Turn right exiting the Mt. Hood Meadows Permit Area towards the Newton drainage.

South Boundary – From the main parking lot proceed uphill toward the bottom of the Vista Chairlift.   Turn left at the bottom of Vista exiting the Mt. Hood Meadows Permit Area.

Those who do hike for turns and want to re-enter the ski area boundary shall do so only into open terrain.

SLEDDING IS NOT ALLOWED WITHIN THE MHM PERMIT AREA

Thank you,

Infection Prevention

With colder weather people spend more time indoors, often with friends and family over the holidays. As winter approaches we can expect the cases of RSVs – respiratory syncytial viruses along with COVID and flu – to increase.

We strongly urge our team members to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from these respiratory infections. We’re a small community here at Meadows – and we spend a lot of time with each other as well as with our guests. We care about every member of our team – and want you to take simple, yet effective, precautions.

Vaccination is your first defense against being infected, and our company’s first defense is to sustain operations this winter season. Both COVID and Flu vaccines have been made widely available, and usually for free.

To find out where you can get your vaccination – visit: https://www.vaccines.gov/

We thank you for making good choices as we work together this season to keep each other healthy.

  1. Get vaccinated and boosted for COVID and Flu
  2. If you are symptomatic – stay home
  3. Feel comfortable wearing a mask – we will continue to make them available
  4. Follow practices to stop the spread of respiratory infection
    1. Frequently wash your hands with soapy water for 20 seconds
    2. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
    3. Cover your coughs and sneezes
    4. Avoid close contact with those who are sick
    5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
    6. Stay home when you are sick

Thank you for doing your part to keep Your Mountain Home a place of enrichment for our team, guests, and community this season.
