Mt. Hood Meadows / Cooper Spur Team Check-in Survey

Just kind of burned out on the fact that we aren't following the set crew list. I'm an OIC and really dislike getting different crews all the time. I've been returning for years and this has never been an issue until this season. I'm over it already, never thought I'd say it and be serious but I feel like I probably won't be back next season.

I've been really stoked about all the cool perks we're getting. The access to the adidas/columbia stores was a huge help in getting some new snow gear. I'm also excited to use the Winter Hawks tickets & letters to flow yoga. Very cool!
Although it can be frustrating when people leave negative feedback without a name, I think it's important to keep the survey anonymous. Some departments are very small and close-knit, and many people (myself included) would be reluctant to give honest feedback via survey if a name were attached to it (especially if it were a more serious issue).

Management Response

I am glad you are finding out about all the perks we are offering. There are still plenty of team members who I find don't know about this stuff. Please help us spread the word to check out the team news, the bulletin board in HR, and the Talent/Team Center online to stay up on all the happenings and deals. I believe Jake is responding to all the comments in favor of keeping the option to be anonymous.

We need two carpets very badly. The lines are very long and it makes the company look unprepared.

Tow rope from the bottom PR run out to HRM chair or at least until it goes down hill. Other resorts have this feature!

Management Response

We are exploring options on how to relieve some of the strain on the Ballroom Carpet. The Kids Fun Zone is an option to divert some of the kids classes over there on weekends. We are also looking at ways to make the Buttercup terrain more accessible sooner, so less time at Ballroom is needed for guests to feel comfortable on Buttercup.

Way back when, there was no Heather lift and HRM was a fixed grip double. That lift was re-purposed to become the Heather lift, when HRM was upgraded to a high speed quad. Back then I remember getting way more fresh tracks in Heather, and PR was not even open terrain - it was a permanent closure. Maybe if it was easier to lap PR, it would get tracked out even sooner too. I agree it is a schlog back to the HRM lift after the run out - a bit like earning your turns in my mind. - Tyler Barnes, Learning Center Operations Manager

please keep survey comments anonymous. it allows us the freedom to express our thoughts without retribution. i find most comments i read constructive and positive, of course there are the negative comments-but that's life in a democracy.

Management Response

We will keep the survey anonymous. If you feel comfortable with it please reach out to me as I'd love to discuss why you feel there would be retribution to giving honest feedback in your department.

Lift ops is a joke this season. Why get people stoked on assigned lifts when the "assistant manager" doesn't even follow the list? They wonder why nobody wants to be here and there's always so many call ins. Will not be returning next year....

Management Response

I am sorry to hear about your frustrations and that there has been some deviation from the assigned lift chart. Sadly, regardless of assigned lifts, there are some days where certain lifts don’t run or an entire lift calls in or we need higher trained employees at specific spots and in those situations, people have to get moved around to make things work. We are constantly refining this list and trying to come up with an assignment we can consistently stick to but some days require us to deviate from that list. We know that assigned lifts is something that is important to our crew and we are trying hard to make this happen. Please feel free to reach out to me if you want to discuss things further.
