The Great Coffee Cut-Off the week of Christmas was a bit brutal. Hopefully management and staff can come to better arrangement to help keep the break room clean but also not leave staff un-caffeinated on those early mornings/long days. Maybe just a "bring your own mug" policy?
Thank you for saying something; I understand this can be tough, being a coffee addict myself (although I bring mine from home). We already encourage "BYO-Mug" as part of our Sustainability Core Value, the problem that week was also dirty dishes and food in the sink, spills/crumbs/garbage left on the countertops and tables. A shout out to F&B Warehouse, Janitorial and HR teams (along with other responsible people I am sure) for trying to keep it cleaned up. I am open to other solutions, I just had to make a decision going into the busy holidays to protect the time that they were all spending on this rather than their other tasks. Signs alone don't seem to work too well. I encourage all to speak up when you see someone not taking good care of Our Mtn Home; it is good practice with the toolbox of phrases I shared in orientation. - - Matt Troskey
Everything’s chill, I just need more hours
Let's get you trained up in Point of Sale, Rental Teching and get you on the setup crew in the mornings. These are great ways to get more hours and explore other aspects of the operation making you even more valuable as a team member. Come see me about these opportunities. -Tyler Barnes, Learning Center Operations Manager
Some changes are not for the better. Als0, we either have too many instructors or too few lessons.
If you're not happy in your role let's look for another position where you're getting the hours you need and the enrichment you want. Come see me so we can help you! -Tyler Barnes, Learning Center Operations Manager.
I know it's early in the season when we fire up more instructor clinics it would be great to see Tyler Jeremy Mark and Chris popping in on those clinics from time to time I know they're super busy doing everything else but it's great to see those guys on the hill supporting
I've been super stoked to lead a Level 2 and Level 3 clinic this last week. Hopefully we'll get to ski together soon! -Tyler Barnes, Learning Center Operations Manager
Taking on the responsibilities of gear check has been slightly challenging but a challenge we are rising up to. One challenge at night is having the staff to make sure gear check is properly taken care of. So far things are running smoothly but we would love to have another couple people that can work in and outside of rentals helping with that. Also we definitely need a new scanner or more batteries, the scanner we have hasn’t been very reliable and it makes it difficult to track who does and does not have gear check.
I want to give a shout out to all the rental employees from the day shift that often stay an extra hour or two after their shift to help out, both front line and leadership. We definitely are getting the support we need!
It seems as though scheduling this season in lift operations has not been very thought out. We keep ending up with a lack of adequately trained people available each day and many of the OIC’s are having difficulty getting lunch breaks because nobody on their lift is able to break them out. And the supervisors seem to be so overwhelmed that they aren’t able to assist with breaks many days.
This coupled with the amount of call ins our department receives results in us being severely understaffed.
Also, being encouraged to start breaks as soon as the lift opens is hard on people.
Breaking out at 9 am and then working non stop from 10 to 4 in bad weather is hard, yet we seem to be discouraged from taking breaks later in the day.
Often times we will be rushing to get breaks done simply so everyone can have one before you force us to RA someone suddenly in the middle of the day.
