PTSD/Stress Injury Resource Guide

First responders are generally considered to be at greater risk for full or partial posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) than most other occupations because their duties routinely entail confrontation with traumatic stressors. At Mt Hood Meadows we have resources available to assist both our First Responders and other team members who have witnessed or been involved in a traumatic event at work. This guide will share articles that explain PTSD signs and symptoms and outline resources that are available to help if you or one of your team members is suffering from PTSD.

What is PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a traumatic or stressful event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.

Most people who go through traumatic events may have temporary difficulty adjusting and coping, but with time and good self-care, they usually get better. If the symptoms get worse, last for months or even years, and interfere with your day-to-day functioning, you may have PTSD.

Getting effective treatment after PTSD symptoms develop can be critical to reduce symptoms and improve function.

Bus Schedule Changes:

Thanks to the wonderful efforts of our transportation team, there have been some strategic changes to the current bus routes! Be sure to check out the new schedule here!

Compost is BACK!

At the start of the season MHM was still recycling coffee grounds and tea leavings but the processing of the rest of our organic waste had fallen by the wayside due to logistical constraints. Compost is back and travelling down the mountain to be recycled into dirt and kept out of the landfill.

MHM has renewed our deal with Dirt Hugger to receive our organics in a trade deal which makes our composting effort financially sustainable as well.

If you work in an area that handles food for guests or team members, you can add organic food waste to your existing coffee grounds buckets. Please do not include “compostable” cups, utensils, or packaging. Those will need to be directed to the garbage still.

If you would like to include compost in your work area recycling efforts and do not already have a container to do so, please contact Steve King at x1303.
